Wooden structure older than humans


In Kalambo Falls which is located in Zambia, oldest wooden structure, made by our ancestor was found. Interestingly this structure wasn't made by humans. It dates back around half a million years ago meaning this was made by pre human creatures such as homo erectus. Dating was done by new technique called : luminescence. Researchers checked last time sand that sorrounded finding, was exposed to sunlight. Finding contains of two large logs that were  joined together by early humans in order to make a platform or some sort of dwelling. This was proven by finding sings of cutting done by sharp tool on the wood. This discovery is particularly interesting because it shows that our pre human ancestors have already made large, wooden structures and used their intelligence for this. Excaavations were made by group of archaeologists from University of Liverpool and Aberystwyth University.

Archaelogists from University of Zurich and Institute for the History of Material Culture had travelled to caucasus to do research about Bronze Age diet. They collectd proteins from samples that were collected from ancient caudrons. Using radiodeating technique researchers were able to date caoudrons to period between 3520 bce to 3350. After analizing samples they discoverred that main meal was : deers, goats, cows, sheeps and water buffalos. Results show that mst of meal was similar to that eaten by people later in history. We know when people Europe and Siberia were firstly populated

Near the Baikal lake in Russia traces of homo sapiens were found. These are the oldest traces of our ancestors there. Using precise dating methods scienists were able to date back these tracesw to around 50000 yeras bce. Interestingly data suggests that during that time temperatures in the region grew significantly. Data comes from pollens analisys and researchers argue that warming caused forests to expand further north and allowed early homo sapiens to arrive there. Roman road found in Scotland

Murray Crook who is Stirling Council archaelogist led the dig in the city of Stirling, in Scotland. They found and eroded surface of the road after digging inside of the garden of the XVIIth century cottage. Road was dated back 2000 years and it means it was built by the Romans. Archaelogists think it was built by legion of Julius Agricola, an officer that ruled army of province Britannia. It was propably used during invasions on Scotland led by Rome. It also shows that roman presence in Scotland was more significant than previously thought and it could reming Scottish people of importance of Rome in their history.
